In January, Hitler predicted in a speech to the Reichstag that a war in Europe would lead to the annihilation of Jewish race in Europe. In February the Japanese troops occupied Hainan Island. On March 15, the German troops moved to occupy Czechoslovakia. The German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia are claimed. On March 18, Stalin asked for coalition against Hitler and Chamberlain refused. On March 28, the Spanish Civil War ended and Madrid surrendered with General Franco. In April, Great Britian and France guarenteed the armed help to Greece and Romania and were attacked by Germany and Italy.

On April 7, the Italian troops invaded Albania. April 14, Roosevelt asked Hitler and Mussolini to stop the violence and make a proposal to hold a conference. From May to September, Japan and the Soviet Union fought a fierce, large-scale undeclared war in Mongolia. On November 30, the Russian troops invaded Finland in the winter. The Battle of the River Plate occurred on December 13. On December 17, Captian Langsdorf of the Graf Spee shot himself in the head.
